A CME “An Evening on Contraception” was conducted by ISOPARB Kolkata Chapter on November 8, 2019 at Hotel De Sovrani, Kolkata. It was started with the introduction by Dr Biswajyoti Guha, Hon Secretary, Kolkata Chapter. Welcome address was given by Dr Arup Kumar Majhi, President, Kolkata Chapter.
Inauguration and lighting of lamp was by Dr Gita Ganguly Mukherjee & Dr Sudip Chakraborty both Past President, ISOPARB and other dignitaries. Both of them introduced about the history and views of ISOPARB.
This was followed by two short presentations. “Evolution of hormonal contraceptives” was delivered by Dr Arup Kumar Majhi and “New horizon of injectable contraceptive” by Dr B D Mukherjee.
Last and most interesting session was communication skill development by role play conducted by Dr Sukanta Misra, Dr Susmita Chattopadhya, Dr Seetha Ramamurthy, Dr Tulika Jha, Dr Basab Mukherjee and Dr Sajal Datta involving the young post graduates. PGs played as practitioner and consultant facing and tackling different situations attending the patients related with family planning. Senior Consultants Dr Seetha Ramamurthy, Dr Susmita Chattopadhyay role played as patient and Dr B D Mukherjee as agitating husband. Four case scenarios were played. First, IT lady frequent traveller living together with boy friend demanding contraception with h/o frequent EC and medical abortion. In second case couple is charging doctors for ligation failure, 3rd pt c/o missing thread and 4th was newly married chain smoker obese diabetic lady had come for contraception. Communication and discussion was observed by Chairpersons and rectified by them and senior persons in audience. It was very interesting. PGs enjoyed too much and learnt more. There were 45 attendants including 19 postgraduates.
